What’s the story?

As noted on PWInsider, the WWE sent Braun Strowman home from its live event tour last week.

On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, it was revealed that Strowman is down with the flu, but will be at tonight’s RAW. Besides, a few other details regarding Strowman’s RAW status were also noted.

In case you didn’t know…

Braun Strowman is presently in a feud with Kane in the lead-up to their Triple Threat match involving Brock Lesnar.

Strowman last competed at a WWE live event last week, where he was seen delivering a powerslam on Kane through a table.

The heart of the matter

One ought to note that as a replacement for Kane’s matches with Braun Strowman at the live events which ensued, Kane was inserted into a musical segment with Elias—with the ‘Big Red Machine’ singing “She’ll be coming ‘round the mountain” with Elias before chokeslamming him.

With Strowman going home on Thursday last week, it’s now being asserted that the Monster Among Men is suffering from the flu, because of which the WWE decided to send him home. Nevertheless, the WWE is yet to officially announce his illness.

Furthermore, Strowman is being advertised for tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW, as well as for the red brand’s upcoming live events this week.

What’s next?

Fans can expect Braun Strowman to likely return to action on tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW, in the buildup to the WWE Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble PPV.

Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Kane—the Triple Threat Match for the Universal title—serves as a marquee matchup on the aforementioned pay-per-view which will take place at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 28th.

Author’s take

Braun Strowman competing at the Royal Rumble PPV is paramount to the Universal title match. With the fans firmly behind the Braun character, the WWE needs to pull the trigger right now, and keep booking him strong; potentially even as the Universal Champion.

Kane vs. Lesnar is a singles match wouldn’t have that much of appeal, so to speak, however, should Strowman be unfit to return soon enough for the ‘Rumble event, perhaps the WWE could book THIS guy as a replacement in the Triple Threat matchup.
