What's the story?

NXT's 'Best Kept Secret' Buddy Murphy has posted a photo online teasing that he will be a participant in the newly announced Cruiserweight Title Tournament after the title was abdicated when Enzo Amore was released from the company.

In case you didn't know...

When Enzo Amore was released by the company, SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan announced that 205 Live would get a new General Manager who would address the title situation.

That General Manager turned out to be Rockstar Spud debuting for the WWE under the name Drake Maverick. Maverick wasted no time in making his mark by announcing a new 16-man tournament for the vacated Cruiserweight Title.

The heart of the matter

We've already seen two first-round matches with Cedric Alexander defeating Gran Metalik and TJP toppling Tyler Bate. On next week's 205 Live we're getting more matches with Roderick Strong taking on Hideo Itami and Lince Dorado fighting Kalisto.

As you can see names like Tyler Bate and Roderick Strong are surprising ones, as the 205 Live Title Tournament seems to be attracting faces you wouldn't normally see in the Cruiserweight Division on a weekly basis. But could another surprise come from the depths of NXT, with its 'Best Kept Secret' making an appearance?

Will Murphy get Cruiserweight success?

What's next?

It's possible that Murphy could just be trolling the WWE Universe by specifically mentioning that he's at 205lbs, the optimum weight to be to qualify as a Cruiserweight competitor. But, it's well worth keeping an eye out to see if the former NXT Tag-Team does make his main roster debut during the competition.

Author's take

We've been told that more Superstars are going to be added to the Cruiserweight Division and Murphy certainly isn't doing anything on NXT at the moment so why on earth not hey?
