What’s the story?

As noted by Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Ronda Rousey could potentially partake in the inaugural WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match.

In addition to rumours of Rousey making her debut as a WWE Superstar at the Royal Rumble, further backstage details on the locker room’s thoughts about the same were also discussed.

In case you didn’t know…

‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey has long been an ardent follower of professional wrestling, having previously appeared in the WWE alongside The Rock in a segment with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H at Wrestlemania 31.

Besides, following a couple of losses in the UFC, Rousey has alluded towards stepping away from MMA, and transitioning to a career in the WWE.

The heart of the matter

Ronda Rousey has been honing her professional wrestling skills at the WWE Performance Center over the past few days, and per the vast majority of pro-wrestling experts the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion will officially join the WWE roster very soon.

Veteran professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer revealed that multiple Superstars who are set to compete in the recently announced Women’s Royal Rumble Match believe that Rousey will be a part of the matchup.

Furthermore, it was also emphasized that several female performers from NXT as well as former WWE female talent could likely return for the Women’s Royal Rumble as surprise entrants.

What’s next?

The first ever WWE Women’s Royal Rumble Match will be featured on the Royal Rumble PPV card that takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 28th, 2018.

Although Rousey may compete in the aforementioned matchup, the WWE is said to be positive about having the WWE’s 4 Horsewomen (Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch and Bayley) face off against their MMA counterparts (Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir) at Wrestlemania 34 next year.

Author’s take

Ronda Rousey is one of the biggest box office attractions in combat sports history, and has little left to prove in the world of MMA.

She’s also a longtime WWE fan, and it’s awesome to see her so close to finally living out her dream as a WWE Superstar.
