From the WWE Rumor Mill: Huge update on Roman Reigns' next opponent

Reigns may have a tough challenge, up ahead
Reigns may have a tough challenge up ahead

What's the story?

There is much speculation that Brock Lesnar may not be a part of the proceedings at WWE Money in the Bank. Whom will Roman Reigns feud with, in the weeks to follow?

Cageside Seats reports that Reigns and Mahal will be wrestling at RAW Live Events going forward. Their feud may be the course of action until Reigns gets ready for his SummerSlam program.

In case you didn't know...

Roman Reigns was in the main event of RAW this week, taking on Sami Zayn and Finn Balor for a spot at Money in the Bank. Shockingly, Jinder Mahal interfered and thereby spoiled Reigns' chances of winning.

Mahal had just cause to be angry, because he was denied a chance to compete in the match, despite the fact that he had defeated Chad Gable earlier that night. Kurt Angle laughed it off when Mahal asked to be added to the main event.

The heart of the matter

Based on the interference, it is clear that Mahal and Reigns will be feuding over the coming months. Cageside Seats has confirmed that the Live Event schedule over the coming months will feature The Maharaja against Reigns.

This could be a clear way to get Reigns over, as Mahal gets booed almost as much as The Big Dog does! The rumour goes on to speculate that Mahal vs. Reigns will last until SummerSlam is on the horizon, without mentioning Brock Lesnar as Reigns' opponent by name at SummerSlam 2018.

What's next?

The coming weeks should really get things going for Reigns and Mahal. Will the crowd support Jinder Mahal when he starts feuding with Roman Reigns? Will the crowd finally cheer for Reigns against Mahal?

Author's take

Honestly, this program does not excite me. I know this is just a placeholder until Reigns gets another shot at Brock Lesnar.

Vince McMahon really wants Reigns to be seen as the Universal Champion, come what may!
