From the WWE Rumor Mill: Hulk Hogan in talks to return for Raw's 25th anniversary

MTV TRL Presents Hulk Hogan
Is Hulkamania about to run wild again?

What's the story?

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE company officials have recently re-opened discussions to bring Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan back for Raw's 25th-anniversary special. on January 22nd, 2018, airing live from both Brooklyn and New York City.

In case you didn't know...

It's been reported numerous of times over the past couple of years on when and if we'll ever see the Hulkster return to WWE scenes ever since his sex tape and racism scandal in 2016, but the company are now reportedly looking into the situation once again. However, there are concerns over whether media and sponsors would welcome back the former 5-time WWE Champion.

The heart of the matter

Hogan had previously reviled that he'd been in talks with another unnamed wrestling promotion for one last run with an interesting angle, but nothing seemed to come through.

WWE have already announced Raw's 25th anniversary will feature current superstars from Raw, Smackdown and legendary performers from the show's history, including Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash and The Undertaker. A potential shock Hogan return would surely be one of the biggest moments in recent years and a fitting one, given his history with the industry.

What's next?

Considering that the WWE are already promoting the significance of the Raw anniversary, it's certain they'll be trying to provide at least one or two headline shocks for the event.

The 25th anniversary special will take place on January 22, 2018, in Brooklyn, New York.

Author's take

Scandal aside, Hulk Hogan if one, if not the biggest draw in professional wrestling history. He certainly deserves one last run with the biggest company in sports entertainment in some capacity, if not only to say his goodbyes.

I think done right and kept a secret, a surprise Hogan return would be one of the biggest wrestling stories of 2018. With the Royal Rumble just six days after Raw it would certainly create buzz and lead to a possible angle at the PPV or even Wrestlemania 34.
