From the WWE Rumor Mill: Intriguing names lead the pack for winner of Men's Royal Rumble match

Could we get a
Could we get a huge surprise in Philly?

What's the story?

The winner of the Royal Rumble historically gets a shot at the biggest title on the brand of their choosing at WrestleMania, therefore the person who comes out on top of the big match in January has a lot riding on them. Rajah reports that there are some extremely interesting names rumoured to be in consideration for the winner of this year's Royal Rumble from former Champions to Lone Wolves.

In case you didn't know...

The main decision about what is going to go down at WrestleMania or any WWE event for that matter comes down to Vince McMahon. But sometimes he makes some rather intriguing decisions, to say the least.

The heart of the matter

With the Royal Rumble on the horizon, it looks like WWE has plenty of options of who to crowd as the winner of the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble match.

Rajah.com reports that some of the names in consideration to come out on top of the Men's Royal Rumble include Finn Balor, Batista, and Baron Corbin. This is a far cry from the hopes that Shinsuke Nakamura might pull down a win so fans could get a Wrestle Kingdom 10 recreation during the Show Of Shows where could collide with AJ Styles once more. But it's hard not to wonder what WWE could be thinking if they went with any of those choices.

What's next?

The Royal Rumble is usually a night of action followed by a nail-biting display during the closing moments of the big Royal Rumble match. This year, fans will get two of those edge-of-your-seat moments and only time will tell just how shocking the outcome of either match could be.

Author's take

If WWE lets Batista win another Royal Rumble it could be a sign that they simply don't learn from their mistakes. Finn Balor coming out on top would certainly make the crowd in Philly excited and present a fresh picture heading into WrestleMania, but the most interesting choice to me is Baron Corbin.

The Lone Wolf has been reportedly earmarked for a big run on top for awhile and it looks like WWE could finally have Corbin in a position so they can pull the trigger on his push a little earlier.
