WWE News: Jinder Mahal working through injury
Jinder Mahal might be injured but WWE doesn't want anyone to think it's a big deal, so it might not be. But who knows?
What's the story?
Jinder Mahal might have an impressive World Title reign and is representing 1.3 billion people in India, but that doesn't mean he's not susceptible to the same risks as everyone else.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter brought up the fact that even though he might be The Modern Day Maharaja, Mahal could be working injured.
In case you didn't know...
Mahal has fought his entire career to be noticed. He was game for anything during his first WWE run which saw him losing a lot as a member of 3MB. But since his WWE release in 2014, Jinder Mahal worked hard to improve himself in every way he could.
All of that hard work certainly paid off when he returned to WWE in 2016 looking like an absolute destroyer. After a little scuffle in the mid-card, Mahal was traded to SmackDown Live where he really made an impression.
The heart of the matter
Although Mahal seems to be on top of the world right now, he might be working through an injury. Dave Meltzer pointed out in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that The Modern Day Maharaja has actually been working with a shoulder injury which has been bothering him in recent weeks.
It was noted how Mahal's shoulder is taped with Kinesio Tape. This is the same kind of tape Cesaro, Finn Balor, and others have made famous in the past for wearing on their injured body parts. This water-resistant tape promises full motion and is described on their website for alleviating "discomfort and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin."
It was also noted Jinder Mahal is sporting this athletic tape on at house shows, but not on television or pay-per-view. Therefore if it is a problem, either WWE doesn't want people calling attention to it, or it's not that big of a deal yet.
It's unknown at this time what kind of shoulder injury Mahal is currently working with. But people don't wear Kinesio Tape for no reason (even though it does look cool). Probably, WWE is trying to keep Mahal safe and able to work until their big tour to India where he promises to be a big attraction.
However, this is the last thing WWE needs if Mahal is really injured. After all, they've spent a long time morphing the former 3MB member into the Modern Day Maharaja.
If Mahal needs Kinesio Tape at house shows, but if they aren't putting it on him for television or pay-per-views, it can't be too bad. But it can't be a perfect situation either.
Seeing how he's wearing the tape for house shows and not television might indicate WWE is trying to minimize the problem by not giving out the impression their World Champion is injured. Let's hope for the best in this situation.
