What's the story?

Keith Lee gave a farewell speech to independent wrestling promotion AAWPro at their 'Never Say Die' event sparking further suggestions that the top independent star is definitely on his way to the WWE.

In case you didn't know...

Keith Lee was rumored to have signed with WWE already, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reporting that he, and fellow top independent star Walter had signed a deal with the WWE.

However it looked like that deal was to make an appearance on Axxess, as both Lee and Walter wrestled during WWE's WrestleMania related event, with Lee beating Kassius Ohno, and Walter losing to Lars Sullivan.

The heart of the matter

Keith Lee reportedly gave a farewell speech at the AAWPro event which you can see a write-up of below, courtesy of prowrestling.com

After match Keith Lee gets on mic and thanks his partners, saying he is incredulous at everything they do, and they are the future of wrestling. Lee says that he wants to tell the crowd that he has had fun in AAW and he wants to bask in their glory. He says he doesn’t know what the future holds, and it is unknown, but no matter what, he wants to say “Thank You”.

He followed it up with this tweet thanking the fans at AAWPro, accompanied by a 'random' picture of him in the ring with WWE Superstar Kassius Ohno at the WrestleMania Axxess event.

Lee also addressed a fan earlier on in the week that said they would cry if Lee ever went to the WWE. Now his response seems to add to the growing list of evidence to suggest those initial reports that Lee was going to WWE (which he denied) were actually true.

What's next?

Keith Lee dropped his WWN Title to Austin Theory over WrestleMania weekend (after defending it successfully against Kassius Ohno at Axxess) meaning that it seems he's fulfilling his existing obligations, dropping any titles he has and paving the way for a WWE debut.

Author's take

All signs point towards Lee going to WWE and I can't wait. I got the opportunity to see him live last year, and on top of being a talented wrestler he also oozes charisma plus a great entrance (Please WWE let him keep that entrance)
