From the WWE Rumor Mill: Latest update on the Lesnar-Lashley program

Where are these two gladiators headed for a clash?
Where are these gladiators headed for a clash?

What's the story?

There are so many dream matches that wrestling fans have yearned for, between superstars from two different promotions, over the years. One such contest pits the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar against former Impact Wrestling Champion, Bobby Lashley.

As first reported on the Wrestling Observer newsletter, this feud is still on the cards, depending of course on Brock Lesnar's status after WrestleMania. We thank Cageside Seats for the heads up.

In case you didn't know...

What makes the possibility of a match between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley so compelling is the fact that both men come from legitimate MMA backgrounds.

Fans have wanted to see these two men clash in either domain, in the past. Whether it's in the ring or in the octagon, thousands have voiced their opinion favourably about Lashley squaring off against Lesnar.

Lashley has even said that he doesn't care where the match happens, and he'll do it wherever it pays more.

The heart of the matter

Lashley is no longer with Impact Wrestling after the latest round of tapings. While there has been a massive exodus of talent from Impact Wrestling to WWE in the recent past, it is not known whether Lashley has signed with the company or not.

Lesnar's contract expires after WrestleMania 34, where he's reportedly on a collision course with Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Based on whether he's still with the company after WrestleMania, WWE plans to book a feud between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley.

What's next?

We'll bring you more Lashley updates as they happen. Lesnar hasn't been seen on WWE programming since the Royal Rumble match against Kane and Braun Strowman. He'll possibly return to WWE TV after Elimination Chamber.

Author's take

The fact remains that Bobby Lashley spoke favourably about this match, even when he was an active part of Impact Wrestling, in the past. Now that he has the opportunity, I cannot see him not wanting this big match.

As for Lesnar, nobody ever knows what the Beast plans to do.
