From the WWE Rumor Mill: Most recent update on Bayley's supposed heel turn

Dave Meltzer had a pretty interesting take

What's the story?

This is a storyline that has been in the works for a long time now. The WWE Universe has been wondering when the Sasha Banks-Bayley storyline will implode so that they can have a match at WrestleMania 34.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, while Bayley is still supposed to turn soon, the same is taking a lot longer than expected, which is why they had Sonya Deville team up with Elias at Madison Square Garden. Thanks to Ring Side News for the summary.

In case you didn't know...

One of the advertised matches for the Madison Square Garden show was supposed to feature Elias and Bayley against John Cena and Nikki Bella in a mixed tag match. Bayley was pulled from this match, and replaced by Sonya Deville. Cena and Bella would defeat Deville and Elias with the utmost of ease.

The heart of the matter

Funnily enough, Bayley was a part of the show but she was in a match against Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women's Championship. Bliss won the match by pinning Bayley. Why was Bayley not in the mixed tag match, teaming with Elias, then? The answer is actually quite simple.

According to Dave Meltzer, while WWE does want Bayley to go heel, the heel turn will still take some time. Sonya Deville got the opportunity to show up in the co-main event and team up with Elias instead, and according to Meltzer, she was quite elated.

What's next?

If Meltzer is right, expect the heel turn to come very soon on RAW. Sasha Banks and Bayley will probably have a big match come WrestleMania 34. The following weeks should be quite interesting, we believe.

Author's take

The Bayley heel turn is almost taking as long as the Emmalina storyline. I think the longer they delay the inevitable, the less excited the crowd will be when WrestleMania comes around.

At the same time, I wholeheartedly believe that both Bayley and Sasha Banks do need this (Bayley's) heel turn, to freshen up their characters.
