From the WWE Rumor Mill: NXT Superstar Oney Lorcan currently injured

Where has Oney Lorcan been?
Where has Oney Lorcan been?

What's the story?

Oney Lorcan might be one of the most underrated talents on NXT because of his diminutive size, but you only need to watch one of his matches to see how hard he hits. When he was paired with Danny Burch it looked like a tag-team push was coming for them, but then they disappeared. We can now reveal it's because Lorcan is injured.

In case you didn't know...

Oney Lorcan was advertised for an independant date on New Year's Eve for the Beyond Wrestling Independant promotion, during which he didn't wrestle, only making a live crowd appearance.

In fact, Lorcan hasn't wrestled since on NXT Television since November 29th, 2017 in a losing effort against The Authors of Pain. It hasn't just been NXT television that Lorcan has missed either, with the Superstar not appearing at any of NXT's live shows over the past two months.

The heart of the matter

Internet wrestling news personality Rovert recently tweeted the following, indicating that there was a reason why Lorcan wasn't featuring on NXT and that it wasn't a particularly good reason.

We did some digging and contacted Casey Michael at Squared Circle Sirens (you guys really should check that site out, it's superb) and he told us that Lorcan was currently off with an injury, something that he'd known about for a while. This was then corroborated by Dave Meltzer in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Oney Lorcan has been out of action of late due to some injuries but they are said to not be too serious

Oney Lorcan himself also seems to suggest his injury isn't too serious as he took to Twitter to post a cryptic message saying 'Oney Lives'. What on earth could that mean? (It means he's coming back folks.)

What's next?

We'll have to see if Oney takes part in the next set of NXT tapings, if not we won't be seeing him again for quite some time. Although the above tweet from him does seem to suggest he's about to make a return.

Author's take

It's really quite strange that WWE NXT seems to keep it's injuries under the radar, not announcing them, or making a big deal out of them. The injured Superstar just disappears and then comes back like nothing happened.
