The man that WWE wants to forget or is it the other way round?

What's the story?

In the midst of widespread speculation regarding Neville's WWE future, the original plans for the high-flyer have surfaced online.

James McKenna of Pro Wrestling Sheet posted a photo of the 'superhero' gimmick that was pitched for the former Cruiserweight Champion.

In case you didn't know...

Neville's future with the WWE has been shrouded in controversy ever since he reportedly walked out during an episode of Raw, leaving the Creative team in a lurch. This was the episode in which Kalisto won the Cruiserweight title from Enzo Amore.

While the general consensus was that WWE had parted ways with The Man That Gravity Forgot, recent speculation hinted at a shocking return. Vince McMahon was said to have had a talk with Neville and was successful in convincing him to stay on.

The former NXT Champion's recent heel run with the title has raised his stock exponentially and we're sure WWE will slot him right back into the main roster if he were to come back.

The heart of the matter

Vince McMahon himself was the brainchild of the "Mighty Mouse" superhero gimmick that thankfully, didn't see the light of day.

The boss seriously considered portraying the master of the Red Arrow as a cringe-worthy superhero. In hindsight, the character could have worked had the leaked prototype been half as appealing as for example, The Hurricane -- one of the only successful gimmicks of such sort.

What's next?

The former NXT standout is expected to return to WWE TV soon if the rumours circulating are anything to go by. A possible feud with Enzo Amore and a lucrative push with the heavyweights are two possibilities.

Considering Neville's apparent displeasure with being clubbed with the Cruiserweights, the latter seems like the more viable option.

Author's takey

The WWE Creative never ceases to amaze me. There have been countless gimmicks in the company's history that are best left unmentioned. The Might Mouse would have surely added to the long list of misfires, many of which have buried careers.

Neville is a lucky man.
