From The WWE Rumor Mill: Possible plans on Ricochet's next feud in NXT

What’s the story?

As per the latest installment of The Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran Professional Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has shed some light on the next possible feud for Ricochet in NXT.

In case you didn’t know…

Following his departure from New Japan Pro Wrestling and the Independent circuit, Ricochet made his debut for the WWE earlier this year, when he was shown sitting in the audience at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. (H/T: Cageside Seats).

However, the former IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champion made his NXT in-ring debut at a taping in Atlanta Georgia, beating Fabian Aichner. Earlier this month, Ricochet also competed in the first-ever NXT North American Championship match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

The heart of the matter

According to The Observer, the initial plans for NXT superstar Velveteen Dream were to get a call-up to the main roster following the culmination of an intense NXT TakeOver: New Orleans two weeks ago.

However, those plans have now apparently been changed and despite being heavily linked to a move to the main roster, the current plan suggests that The Velveteen Dream will indeed stay on the developmental brand for the time being in order to ignite his next feud, which is currently rumored to be against “The Future of Flight” Ricochet.

What’s next?

Ricochet and The Velveteen Dream have previously had some issues with each other on social media when Dream bashed several Independent Wrestling superstars via a tweet. In the past, the two men also locked horns at several NXT house shows as well.

However, at this point, we can definitely assume that Ricochet and The Velveteen Dream could very well square off against each other at NXT TakeOver: Chicago on the 16th of June at the Allstate Arena.

Author’s take

The Velveteen Dream has already proved in the past that he is certainly capable of keeping up with the big stars in NXT, as evidenced by his amazing feud against Aleister Black and I’m pretty sure that Ricochet vs Dream will certainly be another amazing match for NXT.
