What's the story?

Rich Swann was arrested on the charges of false imprisonment/kidnapping and misdemeanour battery for allegedly using a headlock to drag his wife with him after she had jumped out of their car. Swann's lawyer issued a statement regarding his arrest and on how things are proceeding.

If what he says is true and there are no further developments, then Swann might be able to make a return to WWE. The Wrestling Observer also reported that Swann and his wife were on good terms once again.

In case you didn't know...

Following his arrest, Swann was suspended indefinitely by the WWE, and according to their policy, the Cruiserweight would be fired if he were found to be guilty of the charges.

According to the police report, Swann had been critiquing his wife's performance at an indie wrestling show during their ride home when she tried to leave in fear of the argument escalating because of Swann's temper. A witness claimed that Swann put her in a headlock to drag her back to the car.

Swann claimed that he had never forced his wife physically to get back into the car, and she did so on her own. According to reports, Riggs (Swann's wife) tried to leave the car again when it was moving, and Swann chased after her and the car hit a telephone pole.

The heart of the matter

According to reports, Swann and his wife, Vannarah Riggs, patched things up shortly after the arrest. The Wrestling Observer reported they were doing well, and this was not a secret among known friends. Riggs posted a photo on her Facebook account, stating that she was looking forward to meeting him the following day. Her post, on the now deactivated Facebook account, stated,

"I can not wait to see my husband tomorrow! After such an awesome weekend of wrestling debuting in two different promotions across America nothing would be better than to see his face [heart emoji] throwback to our too sweets my love"

A lawyer made this statement on behalf of Swann,

"At this point, no criminal charges have been filed officially against him so depending on how that process plays out will determine our scope of representation. We're hopeful for a fair and quick resolution on behalf of Mr. Swann, but ultimately the state attorney will make their decision (on potential charges) when they deem it appropriate. We're working on the case now and things we may do to assist Mr. Swann. But as far as specifics, I can't comment on that."

If this statement and the other reports are true, then Swann's suspension may come to an end the moment he is cleared of all charges. With him and his wife on good terms, things may soon be resolved, with Swann returning to 205 Live once again.

What's next?

Swann may be cleared of all charges and return to WWE. It is unlikely, however, that he will have the same push he had before the incident.

Author's take

Rich Swann may be innocent of the charges or he may not. With him and his wife on good terms, it is unlikely that more charges will be filed against him.
