From the WWE Rumor Mill: Reason why Nigel McGuinness missed WWE television last week

What's the story?

Nigel McGuinness was conspicuously absent from commentary on the last episode of 205 Live, with NXT's Percy Watson filling in for him instead. This, of course, led to plenty of internet speculation, but now the reason why the British commentator missed the show has been revealed.

In case you didn't know...

The original commentary team for 205 Live were Mauro Ranallo, Corey Graves, and Austin Aries, who commentated the show as a trio for three months. The current commentary team of Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness started on September 5th, 2017 and has continued that way until now.

The heart of the matter?

So why was Nigel McGuinness absent from the show? Has he been fired? Does he have the mumps? Is it all a storyline? Well, actually the real reason is nothing nefarious or controversial. In actual fact, McGuinness has just celebrated the birth of his baby daughter Amelia and the WWE have given him two weeks off to be with his family.

McGuinness also released a small statement via Twitter thanking everyone for their congratulations and well wishes and also thanking the WWE for being supportive and understanding. You can see that below!

What's next?

Percy Watson is currently standing in for McGuinness, on loan from NXT, as he embarks on his paternity leave and is expected to at least be on next week's 205 Live as well. After that McGuinness is expected to be back as the 'Voice of 205 Live' alongside Joseph as the brand's new image and presentation are set to continue.

Author's take

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nigel McGuinness on the birth of his baby daughter Amelia on behalf of everyone here at Sportskeeda and wish him all the best for his future as part of a now larger family!
