From the WWE Rumor Mill: Ethan Carter III spotted at WWE Performance Center

It's looking more and more likely!

What's the story?

PWInsider have reported that recently released Impact Wrestling star, former Impact world champion and former WWE Superstar, Ethan Carter III, has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center.

In case you didn't know...

During the most recent Impact Wresting tapings (you can see the full spoiler results here) Ethan Carter III competed in a Feast or Fired match, and pulled down the briefcase containing the pink slip, meaning his immediate departure from the company.

This confirmed months of rumours surrounding EC3's status with Impact Wrestling that suggested that the star would part ways with the company in early 2018, which is exactly what happened.

The heart of the matter

Earlier Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter seemingly confirmed that Ethan Carter, formerly known as Derrick Bateman, returning to the WWE was a done deal. We now have more evidence, courtesy of PWInsider that this seems to be the case.

Former Impact Wrestling champion EC3 was at the WWE Performance Center this past Tuesday. That should give provide great insight into his next plans, given everything works out.

Just as an indication of what this actually means, some other stars who were spotted at the Performance Center recently were Ricochet and Candice LeRae who have both subsequently been announced as signing with the company.

What's next?

The current theory is that EC3's return to the WWE will not get an official announcement because the Superstar will make his re-debut during the Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant.

This has been sparked by the news that EC3 has pulled out of an independant wrestling date on the same day of the Royal Rumble which could be interpreted as a sign he'll be at the Rumble PPV.

Author's take

It looks more likely than ever that Ethan Carter will be returning to the company he started with before he got his big push at Impact Wrestling. I look forward to him returning and seeing what the can do.
