From the WWE Rumor Mill: Rey Mysterio reportedly working with an ankle injury?

What’s the story?

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rey Mysterio suffered an ankle injury while working for the Catch Wrestling promotion in Austria.

In case you didn’t know…

Since his departure from WWE, Rey Mysterio has been working for several indie promotions along with Lucha Underground. Recently he was working for the Catch Wrestling promotion in Austria during which he suffered an ankle injury.

The heart of the matter

Rey was working an eight-man single elimination tournament in four cities from August 30th through September 2nd. He made it to the finals and apologised for the injury, promising to return to Vienna to make up for it. His opponent, Joe Doering, then attacked him but Rey made a quick comeback, hit the 619 and rolled him up for the win. He then went to the hospital to get it checked out, but it didn't turn out to be serious as he worked a few shows after the injury.

What’s next?

It was reported last week that negotiations between GFW and Mysterio are no longer taking place and are considered dead. Rey has been working with the CRASH in Mexico and is currently focused on training his son Dominick and preparing him for a pro wrestling career.

Rey is a talented worker and still working hard at the age of 42 years, he's showing no sign of slowing down. Despite the injury, he managed to get the victory.

Although it doesn't seem likely that he will return to WWE soon but there's still a possibility that Rey will return to the biggest wrestling promotion at some point.
