What’s the story?

Following his arrest earlier today, former Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann was suspended indefinitely by the WWE according to a press release.

In case you didn’t know...

Swann is currently being held without bail in a jail in Gainesville, Florida on charges of battery and false imprisonment against his wife according to Gainseville Police.

The police reports says the incident started after Swann criticized his wife, Shine Wrestling Superstar Su Yung, on her in-ring performance which led to the two arguing. The report said that Yung jumped out of the car following the argument, but Swann put her in a headlock and dragged her back to the vehicle.

The heart of the matter

Swann signed with WWE back in 2016 WWE following the Cruiserweight Classic and competed on Monday Night Raw until the creation of the Cruiserweight Exclusive program, 205 Live.

Swann would defeat The Brian Kendrick on the debut of 205 Live and hold the title for 61 days before losing the championship to Neville at the 2017 Royal Rumble.

What’s Next?

The reports say Swann is expected to appear in court Monday, but the news of his suspension means he wouldn’t be competing on Raw or 205 Live for the foreseeable future.

Swann was expected to compete against Drew Gulak to determine the #1 Contender for Enzo Amore’s Cruiserweight Championship, but his arrest will likely force plans to change.

Things may only get worse for Swann and the WWE if this case goes to trial.
