What’s the Story?

Speculation has been running rampant regarding Ronda Rousey coming to WWE, but it appears that the former UFC Champion’s status is confirmed.

PWStream reported on Twitter that the deal between Ronda Rousey and WWE is set in stone.

In case you didn’t know...

Rousey has hinted at a professional wrestling career since 2014, when she was interviewed by WWE saying, “you never know” regarding a transition from MMA to professional wrestling.

Her biggest WWE appearance was two years ago at WrestleMania 31, where she confronted Triple H and Stephanie McMahon alongside The Rock.

The heart of the matter

The news on Rousey’s deal being secure didn’t reveal any additional information regarding her plans for WrestleMania nor did it reveal her status for the Women’s Royal Rumble match; a match that many fans are expecting Rousey to win.

Rousey’s Royal Rumble status was not revealed, but PWStream said that fans shouldn’t expect to see her at the show. However, the tweet had a caveat that said that WWE might consider having her at the match if they wanted more mainstream attention.

WWE allowed Mojo Rawley to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33, so the idea that they could sway an appearance for mainstream attention seems like a no-brainer.

The situation regarding Rousey and the start of her professional wrestling career was a big topic for 2017. These conversations became even bigger when the MMA Horsewomen and the WWE Horsewomen faced off.

Triple H and Rousey were reportedly at dinner this past week, but that was reportedly done as a publicity stunt - likely to stoke interest in the Women’s Royal Rumble.

What’s Next?

Tune in to the Royal Rumble in two weeks to see whether the former UFC Champion makes her appearance at the big show.

Author’s Take

Having Rousey appear at the Royal Rumble might overshadow the Women’s Royal Rumble. Hopefully, the WWE saves Rousey’s appearance on TV for the right time – like the Raw after WrestleMania.
