From The WWE Rumor Mill: Ruby Riott set to challenge Nia Jax for the Raw Women's Championship

What’s the story?

During the recent installment of The Wrestling Observer Radio, respected Pro Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer shed some insight info regarding the next contender for Nia Jax’s Raw Women’s Championship.

In case you didn’t know…

At WrestleMania 34, Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss in order to win her first major accomplishment in the WWE, since signing with the company back in 2014.

However, at last night’s Backlash pay-per-view, Jax legitimately cemented her place as the rightful Raw Women’s Champion when she once again defeated ‘The Goddess’ in a ‘Mania 34 rematch.

The heart of the matter

Following her two major wins over Alexa Bliss, and with Bliss seemingly getting injured at Backlash as well, Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax is currently in need of a fresh new rivalry on Monday Night Raw.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Observer, the next potential opponent for Nia Jax could very well turn out to be Monday Night Raw’s newest Superstar Ruby Riott.

As noted, Ruby Riott is currently coming off two major wins over former Raw Women’s Champions Sasha Banks and Bayley, who was defeated by the leader of The Riott Squad last night in the Prudential Center during the Backlash Kick-off show.

Meltzer believes that with Mickie James currently engaged in a feud with Ronda Rousey, the viable challenger for Nia Jax could be Ruby Riott, who now has legitimized her position on Monday Night Raw’s Women’s Division, following to back-to-back big victories. (H/T: Ringside News)

“Mickie James is working with Ronda Rousey so it won’t be Mickie James. So who do we got? Ruby Riott? Could be Ruby Riott I mean she got a couple wins. I mean logically she beat Bayley and Sasha. So I guess if they go with that idea they can bring all three of those women out there with the idea of ‘poor Nia she’s outnumbered three to one.'”- Meltzer noted.

What’s next?

We could possibly find out about Nia Jax’s next opponent on tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw and ‘The Irresistible Force’ might just have a brand new challenger waiting to get her hands on the Raw Women’s Title.

Ruby Riott, in my opinion, is definitely a credible challenger for Nia Jax and personally, being a fan of Ruby I wouldn’t mind seeing her walk out with the championship belt as well.
