What’s the story?

During a recent edition of X-Pac 1, 2, 360 podcast, WWE veteran Sean Waltman revealed that WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels was apparently offered an opportunity to compete at WWE’s first-ever Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia this weekend.

In case you didn’t know…

Being considered as one of the greatest Professional Wrestlers of all time, ‘The Heart Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels is a four-time WWE World Champion and has had one of the most decorated careers of all time in WWE history.

Michaels, who is the co-founder and initial leader of the D-Generation X faction, wrestled in his final match in 2010 at WrestleMania XXVI when HBK lost to The Undertaker at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’.

The heart of the matter

During a very recent episode of X-Pac 1, 2, 360; Sean Waltman stated that during a recent conversation with Shawn Michaels, the former WWE World Champion apparently claimed that the WWE had initially contacted him in the first place in order to get his services for the first ever Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, later this weekend.

However, Michaels was apparently not at all interested into the offer and eventually declined by claiming that as of right now, Vince McMahon’s company shouldn’t even bother sending HBK an offer to compete once again in the squared circle. (H/T: Wrestling Inc)

“I know that this weekend I was in Baltimore and I was with Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash and we were talking about that. They wanted to get Shawn [Michaels], and he was just like, 'you know what, don't even bother sending me an offer and trying to tempt me.' Because there's huge money offers. And he's going, 'I got a thing with one of my kids, and I'm doing that, and that's all there is to it.'"- Waltman stated.

What’s next?

Shawn Michaels is currently working as a trainer for WWE NXT, however, we shouldn’t expect ‘The Heart Break Kid’ to make a possible return to the squared circle anytime soon.

Author’s Take

Personally, I feel there is no need whatsoever for HBK to come out of retirement at this age and compete in the ring once again.
