What’s the story?
Former NXT Tag Team Champion Johnny Gargano is supposedly having a new theme music recorded, as reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet. Gargano is currently one-half of the DIY tag team alongside Tommaso Ciampa, with the two set to compete for the titles at NXT Takeover: Chicago.
In case you didn’t know...
Gargano was treading water in NXT until his partnership with Ciampa, and since becoming a team the two men have become one of the most popular duos in all of WWE. After losing the titles to the Authors of Pain a few months back, this could well be their last opportunity to re-capture the NXT Tag Team Championships – and it’ll take place in a Ladder Match.
The heart of the matter
As you can see in the above tweet, singer Hope Vista tweeted out that she would be recording Gargano’s new theme music. The tweet was quickly deleted which leads us to believe that a split between DIY is imminent, which is something that’s been rumoured for quite some time now.
Ciampa and Gargano last faced off against one another in the Cruiserweight Classic.
What’s next?
As we prepare for NXT Takeover: Chicago, many fans are going to be anticipating a heel turn by either Ciampa and Gargano. Despite it being Johnny who has had the information leaked regarding new music, it seems more likely that Ciampa will be the one to turn to the dark side given his Psycho Killer gimmick and natural heel persona.
Author’s Take
It seems a bit odd to break up one of the most entertaining tag teams on the entire roster, but the CWC gives us hope that this feud could be one of the best in 2017. Keeping the two men down in NXT makes sense given the lack of star power right now, and they could always come back together if need be, somewhere down the road.
