What's going on this Tuesday?

What’s the story?

The WWE begins the road to Survivor Series tonight on Raw, but a big match is rumoured for SmackDown and could have big implications for the November pay-per-view. Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that a Fatal 5Way match is planned for this week’s SmackDown Live to determine the captain of the SmackDown Women’s team.

In case you didn’t know...

Survivor Series is being advertised by the WWE as the “only time” fans will get to see Raw superstars battle SmackDown superstars. The first and only match that has been proposed on WWE programming based on Raw vs. SmackDown has been Jinder Mahal’s challenge to Brock Lesnar.

The heart of the matter

PWInsider reported a potential spoiler for Survivor Series with plans for a five-on-five elimination match between Raw and SmackDown’s Women wrestlers while the champions of those divisions, Alexa Bliss and Natalya, would fight in a separate Champion vs. Champion match.

The latest report regarding the Fatal 5Way suggests that of the six women that compose the SmackDown Women’s Division, that only five will compete on this week’s edition of SmackDown Live to determine the team captain.

What’s next?

If this rumour is true, then the next questions that would need to be answered are who will be the captain of the SmackDown Women’s team and who will be left off the team? There’s a chance that Sasha Banks and Charlotte could become captain of their teams in order to remind fans of their rivalry that defined the Raw Women’s Championship in 2016.

As far as who could possibly be left of the team, it could be Ms Money in the Bank herself, Carmella, but this is purely speculation, obviously, other female Superstars like Tamina, Lana, Becky Lynch and Naomi are also all possibilities

Author’s take

WWE isn't wasting any time to establish these matches based on these rumours and hopefully, these matches are entertaining enough to match NXT Takeover: War Games, which takes place the day before and is sure to set the bar very high indeed.
