Hideo Itami defeats The Brian Kendrick

What’s the story?

Former Cruiserweight Champion The Brian Kendrick lost to Hideo Itami last night on WWE Monday Night Raw and may have suffered an injury during their match according to a report from PWInsider.

In case you didn’t know...

Towards the end of their match last night, Itami hoisted Kendrick on his shoulders and delivered the GTS for the victory. Most wrestlers sell the move as if they’ve been knocked unconscious, but Kendrick immediately clutched his face in pain and continued to hold his face through the three-count.

The heart of the matter

The report says that Kendrick was taken to a hospital after his match on Raw to see if he was injured. However, there has been no clarity regarding Kendrick’s possible injury thus far.

The GTS struck the left side of Kendrick’s nose and seemingly caught some of his face which could mean Kendrick suffered a potential nose fracture or an injury to his skull, but that is pure speculation.

If the injury only affects Kendrick’s nose, then he will likely wear a mask and continue to appear on WWE programming as many WWE superstars have done in the past.

However, if Kendrick suffered a severe injury, then he could potentially miss the 205 Live house show tour next year in January if the timetable for his return is greater than four weeks.

What’s next?

This week’s SmackDown Live episode will emanate from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois (billed as Chicago) as will tonight’s episode of 205 Live.

If Kendrick doesn’t appear on the program, then there’s a possibility that the potential injury he suffered on Raw may have done more damage then people thought.

Author’s take

It’s always awful to hear about potential injuries to wrestlers, so hopefully, Kendrick is okay and didn’t get too banged up.
