From the WWE Rumor Mill: The Undertaker to be a part of the Royal Rumble 

What's the story?

There has been much speculation about the status of The Undertaker, and his future in WWE. Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer thinks that there's a possibility that The Undertaker may indeed show up for the big match.

Thank you to Ring Side News for the heads up. Meltzer did mention that it is odd that the company would not advertise The Undertaker's appearance, before the show.

In case you didn't know...

The Undertaker was last seen at RAW 25, where he appeared at the Manhattan Center. He cut a puzzling promo, that did not shed any light on his future or whether or not, he'd actually retired from the ring.

There was widespread criticism with regard to his appearance, as it was assumed that he'd have a run-in with John Cena (also on the show) so that the two legends could initiate a program for WrestleMania.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer believes that the idea of having The Undertaker as part of the Royal Rumble match was brought up during a meeting. However, he does not know if WWE decided to go ahead with the idea or not, following the said suggestion.

He did find it strange, however, that WWE would not advertise The Undertaker's appearance, considering that he's still a major draw for the company. Bryan Alvarez clarified by saying that the event was a draw in this day and age, and not particular names per se.

Author's take

I'm in two minds about this. If The Undertaker is healthy and raring to go, he should definitely be a part of the Royal Rumble match.

If he isn't, I don't think a small cameo will do his legacy any real favours at all, really!
