From the WWE Rumor Mill: When Roman Reigns is expected back

The Big Dog may be back in the ring soon
The Big Dog may be back in the ring soon

What's the story?

Roman Reigns was pulled from TLC after being stricken with a viral illness, but his status for Survivor Series may not be affected.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Reigns is rumoured to return just before the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

In case you didn’t know...

Reigns reunited with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as The Shield three weeks ago and were scheduled to take on The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, Braun Strowman and Kane in a handicap TLC match.

However, Reigns contracted an illness and was replaced by Raw General Manager, Kurt Angle.

The heart of the matter

Pro Wrestling Sheets' sources have informed them that Reigns’ illness is not expected to get in the way of any plans for Survivor Series and that the Big Dog may return just before the pay-per-view.

While no rumours have been reported on what The Shield’s potential match would be for Survivor Series, many fans expected to see The Shield face another team at the show in an elimination match.

If Reigns returns, it will mark the first time in four years that The Shield competed at the Survivor Series pay-per-view as a unit. Their first and only Survivor Series match took place in 2013 when they teamed up with Jack Swagger and Cesaro to take on Rey Mysterio, The Usos, Goldust and Cody Rhodes.

What’s next?

There is a chance that WWE could book Reigns to return after Survivor Series, but that is pure speculation.

Reigns was booked for the Battleground pay-per-view in 2016 and missed weeks of buildup following his suspension. but returned and competed at the show anyway. Whether this will be different because of the health issues involved remains to be seen.

Author’s Take

Missing out on The Shield wrestling together for the first time in three years would be disappointing with only the match between Jinder Mahal and Brock Lesnar to look forward to, so hopefully, Reigns gets well soon.
