What's the story?

For a long time, the main event of Clash of Champions was rumoured to be Jinder Mahal defending his WWE World Title against AJ Styles.

However, once AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal on the SmackDown LIVE taped live in England it was rumoured those plans were off. Well, guess what? Now they're rumoured to be back on!

In case you didn't know...

AJ Styles shocked the WWE Universe when he defeated Jinder Mahal with the Phenomenal Forearm on SmackDown LIVE in Manchester, England and went on to have the match of the night at Survivor Series against Brock Lesnar, a match that was originally supposed to take place with Jinder Mahal.

The heart of the matter

PWinsider.com have confirmed that the main event of Clash of Champions will be another match title between 'The Phenomenal One' AJ Styles and 'The Modern Day Maharaja' Jinder Mahal.

Obviously, this is just a rumour but they seem pretty confident that this is the plan. What isn't known, however, is who will be the champion as AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal are set to take part in a title match before Clash of Champions.

What's next?

AJ Styles' last match with Jinder Mahal was actually quite a decent match, proving that Styles really can bring the best out of anyone. Hopefully, a feud between the two manages to maintain that level of in-ring work and entertainment.

Jinder Mahal will be getting himself another opponent for WWE's live show in India when COO Triple H will battle the former WWE champion. The question is - will he be the WWE champion when it happens?

Author's take

I was actually a little disappointed about Jinder Mahal losing the title to AJ Styles and being removed from the Survivor Series match with Brock Lesnar. However, a prolonged programme with AJ Styles is a decent consolation prize.
