From the WWE Rumour Mill: Big Show to undergo hip surgery very soon

This did not stop Big Show from putting on a great show
This did not stop Big Show from putting on a great show on RAW

What's the story?

This may be hard to believe, only hours after watching The Big Show fly around like a Cruiserweight on RAW, but he will be undergoing hip surgery very soon. This news was first published in a Tweet from Pro Wrestling Sheet's James McKenna who revealed the following:

In case you didn't know...

The Big Show is a grizzled WWE veteran, who's borne the burden of being the company's in-house giant since the Attitude Era. This week, he took on the giant of the new generation, Braun Strowman, in a steel cage match, busting out moves he hasn't shown us in twenty years. The match went to a thrilling conclusion and ended with Braun Strowman breaking the cage by throwing The Big Show's body to the outside.

The finish was best explained by Mr McKenna's tweet.

The heart of the matter

Despite the fact that he was not at full health, The Big Show gave it his all, wrestling a better match than he has all through his career. The double reinforced ring ensured that there was no ring break this time, leading us to believe that the finish may be underwhelming.

However, despite the fact that Strowman won the match, he threw The Big Show through the steel and right outside the cage. This was probably to write him off TV for a few months, while he gets better and makes his way back to the ring. We wish him all the best for his recovery.

What's next?

We won't be seeing another thrilling battle between The Big Show and Braun Strowman for a few months now. As unfortunate as that is, The Big Show has taken a lot of punishment over the years, and really deserves some time off.

Author's take

The Big Show is a guaranteed Hall of Famer, and an inspiration to many wrestlers, stepping it up so late in his career. I've never been more into his matches than I am these days, and it's all because of his immense hard work. I wish him all the best for his recovery.
