From the WWE Rumor Mill: Cruiserweight Title match to be added to Royal Rumble PPV

The Royal Rumble match gets progressively bigger!
The Royal Rumble match gets progressively bigger!

What's the story?

Anyone concerned that the Royal Rumble pay-per-view might be a long one won't be comforted by the news that the WWE are planning to add yet another match to the already stacked card with Cageside Seats reporting that Enzo Amore is set to defend his Cruiserweight Title against Cedric Alexander at the show.

In case you didn't know...

This would be the second title match between Cedric Alexander and Enzo Amore as the two clashed over the Cruiserweight Title on Monday Night RAW. However, the match ended in count-out after Cedric busted open Amore's face and then injured him with a Suicide Dive to the outside.

The heart of the matter

The finish to the title match on RAW was a bit ropey with it looking like they ended it prematurely due to Amore's bleeding face. However, the Suicide Dive spot did look fairly nasty with Cedric landing awkwardly on the Cruiserweight Champion and bending his leg at an unpleasant angle.

With that in mind, another title match between the two makes sense, especially with Cedric clearly having Amore's number. It would seem the rematch won't be too far away as Cageside Seats have indicated as part of their Rumour Roundup feature that WWE are planning the rematch for the Rumble.

It’s expected that Enzo Amore will defend the Cruiserweight championship against Cedric Alexander at Royal Rumble.

What's next?

With the two tag-team matches, the two world title matches and the US Championship Tournament finals all taking place on the pay-per-view and the men's and women's Royal Rumble matches, the addition of this suspected Cruiserweight Title match is sure to take the running time for the pay-per-view close to five hours.

Author's take

I truly hope that this is the moment that Enzo Amore loses his title, I don't think he's been a bad champion and I think he's been great for 205 LIVE but I've had enough of a Cruiserweight Champion who can't particularly wrestle.
