From the WWE Rumour Mill: Former tag-team champion to be kept off TV after return from injury?

What's the story?

We recently reported that Darren Young was back in action from injury, working live events. Unfortunately, it seems like he will be kept off TV for the time being, at least according to a rumour on Cageside Seats. It is unclear if this is because WWE want to launch him in the right manner, or because there's no storyline for him right now. It is also unclear if he'll still be aligned with the legendary Bob Backlund.

In case you didn't know...

In January, Darren Young suffered an injury to his arm, while teaming with Sin Cara against The Shining Stars. The injury was a serious one and put him on the shelf for over six months. He made his return to the ring at a live event in Wichita, Kansas. He was part of a Battle Royal, that was eventually won by Jason Jordan, to become the Number 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship. We sure are glad to see him back in action, after so long.

The heart of the matter

The RAW roster is stacked and there may be need to repackage Young before he is launched into the mix once again. Unfortunately, being aligned with Bob Backlund did nothing for Darren Young's career. This injury may have been a blessing in disguise because it allows Young to reboot his character and get into the mix of things, one more time. According to the rumours, it won't be anytime soon though.

What's next?

We expect Young to be a regular in the Live Events circuit, to be brought on TV when WWE sees fit.

Author's take

It may make sense for creative to re-imagine Darren Young's character and re-introduce him to the fold, under a new gimmick. He really wasn't connecting with the audience, even with Bob Backlund by his side. Maybe he should sign up with Titus Worldwide.
