What's the story?

This week's US Title match between Baron Corbin and AJ Styles was interrupted by interference from Tye Dillinger, who seems to have injected himself into the US title picture.

According to a report on Daily Wrestling News, this may all be leading to a triple threat US Title Match at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

In case you didn't know...

Last week on SmackDown Live, Tye Dillinger took on AJ Styles for the US Championship and Corbin interfered during the big match. He said he would be accepting AJ Styles' US Open Challenge, this week.

This week, before the match could even get underway, Tye Dillinger attacked Baron Corbin. The stage is, in all likelihood, set for the title picture to be decided in a triple threat match at the upcoming pay-per-view. What better stage than Hell in a Cell, next month?

The heart of the matter

Nothing is concrete at this point but everything could be leading to a match between the three for the second most important championship on the blue brand. AJ Styles has had quite an intense babyface feud with Tye Dillinger, based on their mutual admiration for one another.

Corbin and Styles, on the other hand, have been thorns in each other's sides for a while now. It should be interesting to see how the situation unfolds over the weeks that follow.

What's next?

Because the match this week was a no-contest, we wonder if it will take place again, presumably next week. In case that doesn't happen, we wonder who'll take up AJ Styles' US Open Challenge next week?

Author's take

This is definitely not the most exciting match on the card but should be a fine sideshow. AJ Styles cannot have a bad match, and Tye Dillinger is a good hand. Hence, this is certainly the best match that Baron Corbin can be booked in.
