From the WWE Rumour Mill: Jason Jordan's push is allegedly over

What's the story?

It was a huge deal when Jason Jordan was torn away from his American Alpha tag-team partner Chad Gable and moved over to RAW as Kurt Angle's illegitimate son. However, after months of failing to live up to the hype, it now seems that Jordan's Survivor Series booking is the nail in the coffin for the young Superstar's push.

In case you didn't know...

Jason Jordan had earned himself a spot on the RAW team for the men's traditional Survivor Series match at the pay-per-view by triumphing in a feud with Elias that culminated in a 'Guitar-on-a-Poll' match.

However, he was put in a match against Bray Wyatt by his father Kurt Angle to prove that he should be part of the team, amidst doubts from RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon that he wasn't good enough. During the match with Wyatt, Jordan was injured and then eventually replaced in Team RAW by 'The Cerebral Assassin' Triple H.

The heart of the matter

Jordan went from being a young wrestler about to get a huge rub in a massive main event to appearing in a backstage segment teasing interference in a matter of two weeks, with Cageside Seats reporting that this booking could indicate that the WWE has ran out of faith with Kurt Angle's son.

Based on how he was booked around Survivor Series, WWE may be moving away from the Jason Jordan push altogether.

What's next?

Whilst it seemed like a lock that Jordan would interfere in the Survivor Series main event in some way, that didn't happen. However, I think the most likely thing for Jordan going forward is that he turns on his father Kurt Angle, starting a feud with 'The Olympic Gold Medalist.'

Author's take

Jordan is still a little green on the microphone, and in the ring, but he most definitely can wrestle and could be a star. I think a big problem with his lack of popularity and appeal is that he has been booked mediocrely since he was revealed as Angle's son, making the payoff to such a long ongoing mystery feel underwhelming to the WWE Universe.
