What's the story?

NXT is known for being the Developmental Center for some of the best future main roster talent in WWE. What started as a promotion to create new superstars has now turned into something more, as NXT is almost a brand by itself.

Post-WrestleMania and during the Superstar Shakeup, quite a few members of the NXT roster were called up to the Main Roster. This left the NXT roster a bit depleted without the Superstars they had for so long.

The depleted roster may no longer be a reason to worry as According to reports by PWTorch, a new addition is heading to NXT from the Independent Scene, It appears that Keith Lee may soon be the newest member of the NXT roster.

In case you didn't know...

Keith Lee was reportedly offered a deal by WWE back in March according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

During WrestleMania weekend, Lee faced Kassius Ohno in a match at Axxess and got mixed reviews from officials at WWE. PWTorch report that a WWE source said that Lee had a reputation for doing dangerous moves and that there were some things that needed to change in his approach to wrestling.

The heart of the matter

According to PWTorch, Keith Lee is expected to come to NXT in the near future, after he has finished all of his Independent Booking in May.

Lee is booked for a farewell appearance in PWG on the 25th of May.

Further credence was lent to the rumor when Lee confirmed to a fan on Twitter that he would not be participating in the Evolve event in Melrose, Mass, which is supposed to take place this June. He said that the only appearance he could confirm with Evolve were the ones taking place in Detroit in May, on the 19th and the 20th.

On the 20th of May, he is set to face Matt Riddle for the Evolve Championship, which appears to be the final time the two face each other.

What's next?

Lee is booked to appear for Evolve on the 19th and 20th of May in Detroit, and a final appearance in PWG on May the 25th.

Author's take

Working with WWE after having spent so much time in the Independent Scene is not the easiest thing in the world. After being answerable to no one but himself, Lee will have to buckle down and work with the WWE backstage staff if he wants to be successful.

When Lio Rush came to WWE he was not coachable and his time at the beginning of his tenure with WWE was difficult for both him and the staff. Lee will have to adjust his style and take the advice of the staff so that he is suited to the product that WWE put out in NXT.
