From the WWE Rumor Mill: NXT Takeover Chicago II to take place on Money in the Bank weekend

Could we see the men and women of NXT, living it up in Chicago?
Could we see the men and women of NXT, living it up in Chicago?

What's the story?

This year, NXT Takeover: Chicago took place on Backlash weekend, leaving the fans asking for more sports entertainment action. Well, their prayers may have been finally answered.

Wrestling Observer speculates that WWE will be hosting the second edition of NXT Takeover: Chicago, this time on Money in the Bank weekend in June 2018. This would also establish Money in the Bank as one of the bigger pay-per-view events, considering it features both brands this year.

In case you didn't know...

This year, Money in the Bank is set to be one of the 'Big 5' events, and not the traditional 'Big 4'. For the first time in years, it will feature both RAW and SmackDown Live superstars.

To make the occasion even more special, an NXT Takeover event will be held the night before Money in the Bank.

The heart of the matter

Presenting the excerpt from Wrestling Observer, that alerted us to this development:

Also, as of right now, there is an added Takeover show on 6/16 in Chicago, so there are five scheduled this year instead of four and Money in the Bank is now going to be positioned as one of the “big five” instead of the old “big four” events.

One assumes that much like Brooklyn, the nomenclature for the Chicago Takeover will be thus: NXT Takeover: Chicago II. Chicago is always a great crowd, and therefore this event should be quite fantastic.

What's next?

NXT Takeover: Chicago II is a long way away. The next Takeover event will take place in Philadelphia, in January of next year. The event will officially kickstart Royal Rumble 2018 weekend.

Author's take

It's really no secret that NXT is my favorite brand in WWE. So, one more takeover event is more than welcome!

I love 'Money in the Bank' as well, so this should be a fantastic weekend.
