What's the story?

Dave Meltzer has reported that Roman Reign's promo this week addressing Brock Lesnar's status with the company was, in fact, a worked-shoot as even the people within the company were not aware of Lesnar going over Reigns at WrestleMania.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns went head-to-head at Wrestlemania 34 for the Universal Championship. After a grueling contest, much to everyone's surprise, it was Brock Lesnar who came out victorious in the end.

Speculation has been rampant after his victory and it is being believed that not many people were aware of the final result, even inside WWE.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer stated that no one backstage knew what the final result is going to be. Even the referee was told during the match to count to three and have Lesnar pick up the win. Everyone in the back was under the impression that Roman Reigns would be getting the victory.

Here is an excerpt from what he said: (Via NoDQ.com)

Roman Reigns did a promo on RAW and I don’t know exactly how much of a shoot that was when he was talking about not knowing and Vince McMahon not looking him in the eye and all that but it’s obviously a promo because they want you to know. It was a promo to make you read between the lines.

What's next?

It still not entirely clear, which direction this angle is heading. However, Roman Reigns will be challenging for the Universal Championship yet again at Greatest Royal Rumble which will be held in Saudi Arabia on the 27th April.

Author's take

WWE have really pulled out all the stops for this angle. I feel Reigns will certainly win the Universal Champion in Saudi Arabia and bring a close to this rivalry.
