From the WWE Rumour Mill: Universal Championship match may not main event WrestleMania

R
Ronda Rousey will make her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34

What's the story?

According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE might downplay Brock Lesnar going forward due to his contract coming to an end.

This could result in WWE changing the final match of the night at WrestleMania from Lesnar vs Reigns to Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey vs Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. This is speculation at this point and the match card is yet to be finalized.

In case you didn't know...

Ronda Rousey made her first appearance as a contracted WWE performer at the Royal Rumble where she marched down the ramp after the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match had finished and pointed towards the Wrestlemania sign, indicating that she would be participating at the Show of Shows this year.

Ronda had her official contract signing segment at the Elimination Chamber PPV which saw her drive Triple H through a table after Kurt Angle revealed what Triple H and Stephanie really thought about her.

The former UFC Bantamweight Champion signed the contract and also made an appearance on RAW where her WrestleMania match was finalised.

The heart of the matter

Wrestlemania will take place on April 8th and the card is still not complete. The two matches are confirmed at this point are The Universal Championship match and the mixed-tag-team match featuring Ronda Rousey.

As per WON, it is quite possible that the Universal Championship might not finish the show at Wrestlemania 34 as many have been expected. The reason is that WWE are not happy with Brock Lesnar and want to downplay his role before he leaves the company.

What's next?

Wrestlemania takes place on April 8th, 2018, from Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.

Author's take

Personally, I don't see any reason for the Tag Team match to go on last. Even if WWE do not want the Universal Championship match to close the show, it would make much more sense to have the WWE Championship match between the winner of Fastlane's 6-pack challenge and Shinsuke Nakamura.
