WWE contacts Goldberg for a WrestleMania 32 segment?

WCW legends – The Hitman, the Invincible, and the Icon

Just when #CancelWWENetwork was trending worldwide after an appalling Fastlane, WWE dropped a bomb by getting Shane McMahon back, and in a shocking decision, booked him in a Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker. But does that satisfy WWE’s hunger for that much-needed star power at WrestleMania? Maybe not.

There were reports flying around about WWE getting in touch with Goldberg for a WrestleMania 32 appearance, but those rumors were put to rest by veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio.

As of this writing, the former WWE and WCW Champion was not approached by the WWE for a WrestleMania role, that rules out the possibility of another breathtaking return.

While Goldberg wasn’t approached, Batista was indeed pitched a storyline by the WWE. The Animal was asked to be the special guest referee in the main event between Roman Reigns and Triple H. This was to stack the odds against Reigns – as if that hasn’t been done to death already.

Batista, as we reported earlier, shot down the proposal but kept himself open if the Creative comes up with something better. There is no update on the backup plan being in the works for Batista and at the moment, his name is out of contention.
