#2 A double turn
AJ has remained a face over a year now, and is in constant need of refreshing his character, more so if he wants to prolong his title reign. AJ has been slowly and steadily giving in to his anger while Joe has been winning the WWE universe with his promos.
While it might be difficult to pull off a double turn mid match, if done properly, can significantly improve their feud and take it to the next level. It could rival the likes of Bryan vs the Miz for the feud of the year.
#1 Nakamura attacks AJ
Nakamura wasn't able to beat AJ throughout their feud for the title. He turned heel during the process as well but that too didn't fetch him the title. So, in kayfabe, Nakamura must be agitated to get one over AJ. Moreover, he is without a feud at the moment and a US championship feud would be a nice way to swiftly drift away from the main event without AJ losing out on his momentum.
Joe and Styles would be fighting it out in the middle, and just near the ending, when AJ is preparing for his finisher, Nakamura would appear and cause the distraction, which Joe would capitalize on and win. Nakamura would then attack AJ, leaving him lifeless in the ring and thus restarting their feud, but this time, Nakamura would be the champion.
