What's the story?

Unfortunately, it seems like today is the day for spring cleaning in the WWE roster, based on the number of releases, one after the other. Shortly after the departure of Tye Dillinger and TJP, Hideo Itami has been released as well.

WWE confirmed this news on their social media. Itami had asked for his release some time ago.

In case you didn't know...

Hideo Itami is one of Japan's top pro wrestlers. He first gained success in Pro Wrestling Noah and would then take ROH by storm as well.

Hideo Itami came into NXT with a lot of momentum, but this was derailed owing to an injury. He would never be the same since and would have a run on 205 Live. This decorated Japanese Superstar, unfortunately, won no gold in WWE.

The heart of the matter

According to a previous rumor, Hideo Itami had asked for his release from WWE in January 2019. Various members of the WWE roster bid farewell to Hideo Itami on social media, speaking about respect. It is clear that his peers held him in very high regard indeed.

In all likelihood, Hideo Itami will head back to Japan and try and carry off from where he left off in Pro Wrestling Noah. Team Sportskeeda wishes him all the best for the future and hopes that he finds success in whatever he attempts to do.

Itami is one of the many WWE superstars to have asked for his release in recent times. Most notably, Dean Ambrose will be done with the company after WrestleMania.

Itami could also be a prospect for All Elite Wrestling.

What's next?

Hideo Itami can find much more success in Japan than in the United States. The WWE roster is far too stacked and not everyone gets to shine. We'll keep you updated with regard to Itami's status, as and when any news emerges.
