#HowItShouldGo: Rhyno's Last Push

on

#HowItShouldGo is a new series where we come up with interesting ideas on how certain events in WWE should happen. Dream bookings, emotional retirements, everlasting drama…we will try our best to package it all for you in easy doses, every week!

Superstar in focus: Rhyno

Rhyno needs no introduction. If you don’t know much about Rhyno, go back and watch his ECW days. His ‘Gore’ often puts the best of spears out there to shame and is considered to be a benchmark in the skill, alongside a few others. At 42 years of age, we might not see a lot of him in WWE, especially considering how stacked the roster is right now. But then, it would be a shame to let such a talented wrestler fade into black! Sorry for the Aleister Black reference, but no, he isn’t involved in this storyline. The WWE Universe won’t mind an old-timer like Rhyno getting one last hurrah. On the contrary, considering the massive pop he got on his WWE NXT debut, people would actually be appreciative.

Here’s how we propose Rhyno’s last run should go.

Chapter I

<p>

After standing tall at TLC 2018, The Miz with The Miztourage is engaging in a back and forth with the crowd on a special edition of Miz TV. The Miz proclaims himself the greatest Champion in the whole of WWE and demands that everyone should respect The Miztourage as they are future Tag Team Champions. He then adds on how real talents like himself and The Miztourage get overlooked in WWE due to old-timers and part-timers hogging all the spotlight. To this, Kurt Angle’s music hits and out he comes with a mic. Kurt regretfully congratulates The Miz on his victory but warns him that there are a lot of Superstars in the locker room who are waiting for a chance to take him on. But he wasn’t out there to issue warnings. He adds,

“I agree with you, Miz. Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel might probably be two of the most underutilized talents we have right now. They do deserve a shot at the tag gold. However, you can agree that they haven’t done much around here, other than interfering in matches & annoy the officials. But I am ready to give them one more chance. They just have to beat one team & they will have a tag team Championship opportunity at their hands. And here are their opponents…”

Outcome Heath Slater & Rhyno to a good pop from the crowd, and we have a decent match on our hands.

Chapter II

<p>

The Miztourage does a pretty good job alienating Heath Slater from his partner Rhyno who hasn’t been involved much in the match since the start. But one moment of overconfidence gives Heath the chance to hit a neck-breaker on Curtis Axel and get a breather. He slowly crawls up to Rhyno and makes the tag despite a last minute attempt by Bo Dallas, who got the tag at the other end. An energetic Rhyno hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Bo Dallas and a clothesline on Curtis Axel. A few more suplexes here and there and he finally sets up Bo Dallas for the Gore. The Miz sees that this could be bad for his allies and runs onto the ring apron to distract the referee. It turns out that Axel was playing possum and he hits a low blow on a distracted Rhyno. However, the referee actually sees it! To the horror of The Miz & The Miztourage, the referee disqualifies them and announces the team of Heath Slater & Rhyno as winners.

The Miz tries reasoning with the referee but the decision was final and the match has ended. He loses his calm and attacks Rhyno. The Miztourage joins in to make it a 3 on 1 assault. But then, Heath jumps to the rescue of his partner and temporarily stalls the trio. However, the numbers game catches up and the trio unloads a beating on Heath. The Miz instructs Bo Dallas to get rid of Rhyno to which he happily obliges. Now, the three of them focus only on Heath Slater, picking him apart, piece by piece. The Miz seems to have absolutely lost it considering it was him who cost The Miztourage the match. His ego has got the better of him and he wants to take it all out on the fallen Heath Slater. Curtis Axel gets a steel chair into the ring with which The Miz quickly snaps Heath with a couple of shots. Meanwhile, Bo Dallas and Axel step out of the ring and run Rhyno into the barricade to ensure there won’t be any interruption. Then the three of them assemble near Heath Slater. The Miz asks Bo & Curtis to help Slater onto his feet so he can hit his finisher. But then, that wasn’t enough to boost his ego. The Miz decides to set the chair before the move, and then he hits it one more time. Heath Slater starts writhing in agony as The Miz and The Miztourage stand tall in the ring. As they are about to exit the ring, The Miz looks back at a struggling Heath and decides to punish him further. Meanwhile, Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel slide Rhyno back into the ring and unload a beating on him. Then they hold him up as The Miz hits the Figure Four Leg Lock, using the chair to accentuate the damage on Heath. Rhyno, not fully conscious, is unable to react. But he is frustrated at not being able to help out his partner. In a rush of adrenaline, Rhyno pushes Bo & Curtis away as they quickly slide out of the ring anticipating danger. The Miz too does the same. The three of them walk away from the ring, feeling proud of what they had just done to Heath Slater. Meanwhile, Rhyno tries to tend to Heath Slater, not fully fit himself.
