Impact Wrestling News: Impact Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling have now officially merged

GFW talent has now been absorbed by Impact

What’s the story?

Well, the question nobody wanted the answer to has finally been resolved. Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling is now officially merged with Anthem’s Impact Wrestling. So... yeah...

The background...

Jeff Jarrett was seemingly forced out of the company he founded in 2014 and, after his departure, Double J founded a new organization called Global Force Wrestling. Since then, now-former TNA owner and president Dixie Carter is out and the company has brought Jarrett back in to steer the ship.

The heart of the story

With Jeff Jarrett in charge of the former TNA, and Global Force Wrestling just whistling in the wind, it was only a matter of time before the two became one. Jarrett had the best intentions with GFW, but it never really took off.

In an expected move, Double J’s wife Karren Jarrett came out on the latest tapings of Impact and officially announced the merger of the two promotions.

What’s next?

It’s safe to say that Global Force Wrestling, as a brand, is done. Hopefully, the international connections that Jarrett made with GFW will carry over with the new Impact Wrestling. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks and what this all means during the Impact Wrestling TV tapings.

Author’s take

*sigh* Look... Jeff Jarrett has his place in wrestling history... and a good place, too! But, Impact Wrestling has been a mess for the past few weeks and Global Force Wrestling has essentially been the vaporware of the wrestling industry.

I’m not the biggest Jeff Jarrett fan, but I know he has a ton of passion for this business and if anyone can get this company over the hump, it’s him. I’m rooting for him.
