What's the story?

Impact Wrestling superstar Chris Adonis was recently in interaction with Arm Drag Takedown with Pollo Del Mar, as the two discussed a host of wrestling related topics including Adonis' work experience with Impact Wrestling.

In case you didn't know...

Chris Adonis is a former WWE superstar who first signed with the company back in 2003 under the promotion's developmental territory of Ohio Valley Wrestling. Adonis spent two years down at OVW where he won OVW Southern Tag Team Championships alongside Brent Albright.

In 2006, Adonis made his WWE debut as part of the Raw brand under the name Chris Masters and defeated Stevie Richards on his WWE main roster debut. In the following years, Adonis went on and pursued the WWE Championship and the Intercontinental Championship but, failed to win a single title during his WWE career. Adonis was released from his WWE contract in 2007 and made a return to the Indy circuit soon after.

However, in 2009 he was resigned by Vince McMahon but his second run with the WWE also ended without any championship reign and two years later he was once again released from the WWE. In 2017, Adonis made his return to Impact Wrestling and soon turned heel by aligning himself with current Impact Global Champion Eli Drake.

The heart of the matter

During his interview with Arm Drag Takedown; Adonis revealed a few inside details regarding his work experience with Impact Wrestling so far and also commented on his partnership with current Impact Champion Eli Drake.

On working with Impact Wrestling:

Adonis stated that during his time with the company, nothing has been set in stone and everything has been questionable. But, the former WWE superstar claimed that the current goal is to get the company to a stable place at this point in time.

On his partnership with Eli Drake:

Adonis started off by saying that Drake is a homegrown talent in Impact Wrestling and praised the World Champion saying, he has worked really hard to get where he is at the moment. It was later added by Adonis that people have recently started to react to Drake as World Champion and this might be the right time for Impact Wrestling to finally do something with him as the main champion of the company.

Adonis also discussed a possible split from Eli Drake and believes that it is something that needs to be planned on a long-term basis and thinks that if there is a split between the two men in the near future, then Impact fans could possibly witness a babyface run from Eli Drake.

There are ways to do that which are really cool, and there are ways to do it which aren't, so we just need to make sure it is. Then all of this can be for a reason at the end of the day. And it can help both characters get to where they need to be.

What's next?

As for Chris Adonis, he continues to team up with Eli Drake on Impact Wrestling and seems to be determined to take Impact Wrestling to a new level.

Author's Take

I think Drake and Adonis' partnership is really indeed a very strong one and the duo have showcased great chemistry. Personally, I think the two men should pursue the Impact Tag Team Titles in the near future.
