What's the story?
Former WWE star Chris Masters, a.k.a Chris Adonis in Impact Wrestling has announced that he has parted ways with the company.
Chris had worked most of the tapings recorded this week. Chris Tweeted the following about his departure.
"I have to announce my departure from Impact Wrestling. Thank you to @sonjaydutterson @EdNordholm & @ScottDAmore"
In case you didn't know...
Chris had been working for Impact on and off since 2015, originally debuting as apart of the GFW Invasion angle. Chris was involved in various angles but was mostly associated with Eli Drake.
The heart of the matter
It is a shame things didn't work out for Chris and Impact. He seemed to have found his stride and was being put to better use than his second WWE run from 2009 - 2011. Chris had a lot of potential during his time in both WWE and Impact Wrestling so it is such a shame he was never used as he should have been.
Chris did receive a very strong push when he first arrived in WWE in 2005 but that was too much too fast, and when he was ready for that particular kind of push, he didn't get it.
What's next?
Chris has maintained a good relationship with GFW boss Jeff Jarrett and will likely return to GFW. Chris will also start to take in more independent bookings than he had been doing during his Impact run.
Author's take
It is a shame that things didn't work out for Chris and Impact. Chris could have been a big star for the company and could have eventually broken off with Eli Drake and have a career making push with him over the World Championship. Hopefully, Chris will return in the future or find success working elsewhere.
