What’s the story?

During the latest tapings of Impact Wrestling, former Lucha Underground Gift of Gods Champion Brian Cage finally made his debut for the American promotion and competed in two matches on his first night with the company.

In case you didn’t know…

Former FCW superstar Brian Cage is considered one of the most athletic and agile big man in the wrestling business today. The 265-pound monster has wrestled for numerous top promotions around the world including WWE (Under the FCW brand), Lucha Underground, Lucha Libre AAA, and Pro Wrestling NOAH as well.

Cage has also previously worked for Impact Wrestling back in 2012-2014, however, during his first run with the company Cage mostly competed in dark matches and ended up losing most of those bouts. The former FCW Tag Team Champion has also made a name for himself on the Independent scene where he has performed for various top promotions such as WrestleCircus, All Pro Wrestling, and most notably Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.

The heart of the matter

Recently Brian Cage has also been linked to a possible move to New Japan Pro Wrestling—following his impressive performance for Pro Wrestling NOAH last year. However, Cage has instead decided to sign for Impact Wrestling and during tonight’s television tapings in Orlando, Florida, Cage made his debut for the promotion.

Brian Cage competed in two matches on his debut night for the company as he stepped into the ring with two local enhancement talents and dominated both of his opponents in a very aggressive manner. Furthermore, Impact Wrestling also welcomed the 33-year-old to the company on their official Twitter handle:

What’s next?

Brian Cage now joins his fellow Lucha Underground colleagues Johnny Impact, Taya Valkyrie, and Sami Callihan in the Impact Zone. The former PWG Tag Team Champion has worked for numerous top Indy promotions over the past few years and is definitely going to possess a huge threat to the entire Impact roster.

With the signing of Cage, wrestling fans can now also potentially witness a lot of dream matches such as Cage vs Lashley, Cage vs Ethan Carter III and another potential match between Sami Callihan and Brian Cage.

Author’s Take

In my opinion, this was a great pick by Impact Wrestling because I believe that Cage is a massively talented star, who has a great look and the potential to be a future World Champion.
