What's the story?

PWInsider has reported that Impact Wrestling has released yet another employee from their contract in an alleged cost-cutting exercise.

This time it's director David Sahadi, a former WWE employee who was responsible for directing Impact Wrestling's video features and pre-pay-per-view hype videos.

In case you didn't know...

Impact Wrestling is in somewhat of a state of flux as it transitions away from its base in Nashville Tennessee and the home of the Impact Zone in Florida to a new start in Canada.

As a result, the company have made the decision to let go of several of their employees, including all of their refereeing officials, several of their wrestling talent including top names like James Storm.

The heart of the matter

David Sahadi is widely regarded as an excellent and extremely talented director by those who worked with him in the industry and had worked for Impact Wrestling for the last decade as a director and producer.

Sahadi came to the company after working for the WWE as their Director of On-Air Promotion, in what was considered a major hire for Impact Wrestling (TNA at the time).

The move is being alleged to be a cost-cutting exercise from new owners Anthem, following he announcement of another prominent backstage figure, Rafael Morfi's departure, former Impact's Live Event Manager.

What's next?

It seems that the releasing of wrestlers has slowed down for Impact, although there are still rumours surrounding the futures of Bobby Lashley and Ethan Carter whose contracts are due to run out soon. However, I'd fully expect there to be more backstage releases

Author's take

It's never nice when someone loses their jobs, especially when it seems to be through no fault of their own with David Sahadi being a well-respected director and producer for Impact.

I just hope that when the dust has settled Anthem can steer Impact Wrestling back in the right direction and all of the cost-cutting will yield positive results.
