Impact Wrestling Results (23/11/2017): Thanksgiving special show

A Thangsgiving full of surprises.
A Thanksgiving full of surprises.

The Thanksgiving edition of Impact Wrestling kicked off with greetings from Jeremy Borash and Josh Matthews. The Turkey Bowl was the focal point of the show as a 5-on-5 Tukey Bowl tag team match was announced for the night.

The stipulation was simple: the one who eats the pin wears the turkey suit. A throwback recap of Turkey Bowl 2008 aired next that included Alex Shelly, Shawn Daivari, and Rhyno. Mick Foley -- who was the on-air authority figure back then -- had to come out to force Shelly into wearing the turkey suit after the latter lost the match after a Ryhno Gore.

The recap was followed by a backstage segment that featured Jeremy Borash orchestrating a draw to figure out the competitors for tonight's 5-on-5 Turkey Bowl match. Another filler vignette aired next in which many top Impact Wrestling stars shared their most cherished Thanksgiving memories. Impact Wrestling Champion Eli Drake spoke about his time in Macy's Parade while Impact Knockout Allie opened up about her grandma's extravagant meals.

Borash picked both the team captains next in a backstage segment with the responsibility falling on the shoulders of Eddie Edwards and El Hijo del Fantasma respectively. Eli Drake and Chris Adonis crashed the segment and gave their two cents on the main event, calling it the Gravy Train Turkey Trot.

Impact hyped up the upcoming Knockouts tournament next and focused on the participants of the tourney which include Madison Rayne, KC Spinelli, Laurel Van Ness, Sienna, Rosemary, and Allie. It should be noted that the winner of the tournament will be crowned the new Knockouts champion as Gail Kim relinquished the title and announced her retirement.

The superstars then spoke about their preferred Thanksgiving food with Sami Callihan expressing his obsession with cranberry sauce. An old Turkey Bowl match between Eric Young and Robbie E aired next.

The second members of team Edwards and Fantasma were announced next. Allie joined Edwards' entourage and while she wanted to wear the Turkey suit, she didn't want to lose and do the honors. Caleb Konley was added to team Fantasma. McKenzie Mitchell was with Trevor Lee and Konley. Lee warned Konley about not losing the match as he would look stupid in a Turkey suit.

Richard Justice was excited to be the third member of team Edwards but was skeptical about the suit looking too snug on him. Drake, Dean Ambrose's former tag-team partner, continued the Thanksgiving tributes by expressing his gratitude for being the Impact Champion. Sienna did the same by thanking the fans.

The fourth members of Team Fantasma were picked to be KM and Laurel Van Ness after the champion's address. Ness was at her drunken best as she couldn't hide her love for a turkey dinner.

Robbie E vs. Grado (Turkey Bowl 2016)

Last year's Turley Bowl match was replayed next for some weird reason. Nonetheless, Robbie E and Grado went up against each other in a match that was filled with comedic elements.

The finish of the match had Grado at his goofy and hilarious best. After mirroring Robbie, Grado shot for the roll up but instead got caught in a pinfall attempt himself. Grado seemed really displeased about wearing the suit after the match but got in the groove once his music played.

Robbie and Grado dressed as a Turkey danced to the theme and closed the segment.

Borash named Falah Bahh! as the fourth member of team Edwards. EC3 trashed Bahh by calling him a big bag of goo. Last but not the least, Gazra Jr.was announced as the fifth and final member of Edwards' group. The fifth and final member of Fantasma's team was revealed to be Chris Adonis.

Team Edwards: Falah Bahh!, Gazra Jr., Allie, Richard Justice and Eddie Edwards.

Team Fantasma: Caleb Konley, Laurel Van Ness, KM, Chris Adonis and El Hijo del Fantasma

Both teams made their way out for the main event with their respective captains leading the front. It was time for the main event!

Team Edwards vs. Team Fantasma (Turkey Bowl 2017) (The one who eats the pin wars the Turkey suit)

As scrumptious as it sounds, a complete Thanksgiving meal was set up on the floor for each of the teams and both were seated at their tables. Drake cut a promo before the proceedings could get underway and addressed the match. He requested the fans to make the loser wears the suit at any cost.

The match finally got kicked off after the talents made an oath. Finally!

Justice managed to get the better of Konley with a few punches in the opening sequence of the match. The crazy one, Laurel Van Ness got tagged in and she wasted no time in changing the mood of the match as she piggy-backed on Richard while he made the tag to Allie.

A wild exchange ensued between the two knockouts. In the meantime, Drake was seen helping himself to some delicious Thanksgiving food by ringside. Back to the in-ring action, Bahh and KM are the legal men. The tussle ended with Bahh going shoulder first into the steel ring post.

KM tried his best to get Bahh down but a cross body block thwarted his attempt. Garza and Bahh then worked in tandem on KM, as they first yanked his pants down and delivered a Samoan drop. A mistake from Garza was enough for Km to make the hot tag to Fantasma.

The captain came in hot and executed s sweet dropkick for the two-count. The following minutes were all team Fantasma as Garza was put through some severe punishment.

Adonis, Konley and other members of team Fantasma took turns to wear down Garza, who was already selling a shoulder injury from another angle. Garza finally created some separation and made the tag to Eddie Edwards.

Eddie hit an insane Blue thunder Power Bomb on Adonis for a two-count as all hell broke loose in the ring. it was tough to figure out the brawling combinations as both teams just unleashed an all-out assault on each other.

An incredible spot followed as Fantasma and Edwards were the first to be sent out of the ring. Every other wrestler in the match somehow made their way out of the ring in a sequence of events that was essentially done to build up an epic leap of faith from Allie.

The knockout went up to the top rope and took everyone out with a splash to the outside. The fans in attendance went berserk for the knockout as 'Allie' chants echoed around the arena.

Eddie and Adonis were in the ring for the finish. A foiled Adonis Lock transitioned into a roll-up was all it took for Edwards to get the pinfall victory for his team.

Predictable scenes followed the match as Adonis refused to wear the suit. Drake too was against the idea of his friend in the embarrassing suit, but Borash reminded the duo about the oath as everyone chanted 'Turkey'.

Adonis tried his best to escape backstage only to be stopped by security guards every single time. Borash announced that Drake would have to wear the suit is Adonis chickens out.

Drake completely turned on Adonis and instead of helping him escape, coaked the security into getting him back into the ring. He finally puts the suit on, much to the amusement of the crowd. An all-out food-fight broke out between the two teams.

The pandemonium came to an end when Adonis accidentally hit Drake in the face with a pie.

And that was thankfully it for this week!
