Indie News: CM Punk confirmed to appear at Chicago event during All In weekend

Is CM Pu
Is CM Punk returning to wrestling?

What’s the story?

After seemingly teasing an appearance at the upcoming "All In" event back in February, then even trolling by saying he was "all in" - before tweeting a Chicago Cubs "all in" photo, you'd be forgiven for being sceptical here - but it looks like we may be seeing CM Punk return to a wrestling ring, at least for an appearance.

Pro Wrestling Tees confirmed on Twitter today that they will be hosting a meet and greet with CM Punk in Chicago on the weekend of All In - which the All In event's official Twitter page then retweeted.

In case you didn’t know…

Punk retired from professional wrestling in 2014. As one of the most loved indie talents of all time, he's a former WWE Champion.

It's always been thought that hell may freeze over before CM Punk returns to WWE after he alleged medical negligence on their part and, additionally, it had even been said that Punk may possibly never even return to professional wrestling after seemingly falling out of love with the business - but the chance to appear at what may just be the biggest independent show of all time may just be swaying the Best in the World.

Punk seems to be geared up for another shot at UFC glory in June when he faces off against Mike "The Truth" Jackson inside the Octagon, but the hometown hero has also been confirmed to appear at a meet and greet for Pro Wrestling Tees on the weekend of All In - which is self-funded by Cody Rhodes and The Bucks.

The heart of the matter

Pro Wrestling tees took to Twitter today to tweet the following photo, which was then shared by the All In event page too.

What’s next?

While this photo only confirms that CM Punk will be in his hometown of Chicago during All In weekend and signing autographs and meeting wrestling fans, it is the biggest hint yet that we may see the former WWE Champion inside the squared circle again.

Next up for Punk, though, is the Octagon where he faces Mike Jackson at UFC 225 June 9th, also in Chicago, Illinois. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Author’s take

Love him or hate him, Punk definitely knows how to get the world talking.

This event, at the very least, will both do that and most likely get more feet in the door at All In. Whether he appears or not, well, it's anyone's guess - but it does look more likely than ever before!

Here's hoping this is all just part of the rollercoaster that leads to CM Punk returning to the squared circle.
