Interview: Enzo and Big Cass discuss their WrestleMania debut, promo writing and having their dream match

Enzo and Big Cass

Just days before WrestleMania 33, we spoke with Enzo and Big Cass about their big match for the Raw Tag-Team championships against Gallows and Anderson, and the team of Cesaro and Sheamus in a ladder match.

Q: Your promos in the ring, are they entirely off the cuff, or do you both write down what you’ll say for each city?

Enzo Amore: As a WWE Superstar, we have such a range of characterization and emotions when we’re on-screen that are captivating.

When we worked with Snickers, they allowed us as WWE Superstars to captain the ship as far as our commercials went; going off the cuff here and there and working with a girl like Becky [Lynch]. Now, we transcend what we do in our business.

That’s basically it in a nutshell. You can’t plan for a guy getting hurt in the ring. You can’t plan for when something bad happens, or something great happens, or when the crowd takes over.

So, a lot of what we do is ad-libbing, or off the cuff and you just feel it. And fortunately for us, as maybe you could tell, we thrive off the energy of that crowd. So, the energy that the crowd gives us insinuates our next move.

Q: Last year, you weren’t even on the main roster at this time. What’s the first thing you’re going to do when you step out onto that ramp?

Big Cass: We’re going to take a moment to take it all in and make sure you put that in the old memory bank and always remember that.

That’s a first for us and that’s something we’ll never forget. We need to sit there at Camping World Stadium, look around and take a moment to take it all in because that’s a memory we’ll take with us for the rest of our lives.

Q: A few years ago, you were both doing great stuff in NXT. Today, you’re at WrestleMania. Is it true to everyone out there that hard work pays off eventually?

Big Cass: I think that is well-documented if anybody out there saw the WWE: 24 from this Monday called, WrestleMania Monday.

I think they documented Enzo’s and my journey very well. I think we are a testament to hard work paying off 100-percent.

Q: Do either of you have a dream match in mind, as a singles competitor or tag-team?

Enzo Amore: Well, honestly I had a dream match I always pictured myself in a scenario where there was a ladder, and a title and WrestleMania.

That, somehow, came to fruition on the last day of our rookie year. In a calendar year, the WWE, we go from WrestleMania to WrestleMania. I’ll have had an opportunity to live my dream, which is the first time ever coming out there on a microphone.

And now, that debut has turned into a WrestleMania debut for the ages.

Q: For each of you, can you put into words what WrestleMania means to you?

Big Cass: I’ll say it’s going to be a lifelong dream accomplished when I step out onto that ring at WrestleMania.

Enzo Amore: I’ll take about 10-to-12 hours to dwell on that accomplishment because the very next night will be Monday Night Raw and Big Cass and I will be your Raw Tag-Team champions at the Amway Center on Monday! How you doin’?
