It's safe to say that The New Day is one of the most entertaining acts of all time. From their humor to their intelligence to their promos, very few groups in wrestling history have been as entertaining as Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E. The former WWE Champion recently spoke with AL.com before SmackDown and revealed that former WWE stars Santino Marella and Booker T always made him laugh.

Comedic inspiration

Whether they are shilling merchandise, pancakes or quips at opponents, there are few current WWE stars that are as hilarious as The New Day. Each member brings his own influence on the group and its promos. While Kofi Kingston seems like the most level-headed of the members, he can bring the silly. He revealed that WWE legend Booker T always made him laugh when he watched WWE.

“I think before I got signed, I would definitely say Booker T, specifically King Booker was hilarious to me. It was such a departure from anything he had done at that point. Him portraying this elegant character and being the opposite of elegant, rugged in the ring and on the mic, it was one of the more entertaining things."

Kingston got to see how the art of comedic wrestling was done up close once he signed with the WWE. He later mentioned that former WWE star Santino Marella cracked him up routinely when both men were members of the roster.

"Since being on the roster, Santino Marella, without a shadow of a doubt, he is the funniest in-ring competitor…Anytime he was in the ring, people gathered around the monitor and wanted to see what he would do, whether he was going to the top rope and being afraid of heights and then jumping off the bottom rope and missing. It was really just a joy to see him out there and do his thing.”

A tough act to follow

As Marella and Booker T inspired and cracked Kingston up, it's safe to say that the former WWE Champion has had the same effect on a new crop of potential WWE stars. No one will ever come close to being The New Day, but it doesn't mean that they cannot learn from the comedic expertise of the talented trio.
