LU News: Season 4 premiere date of Lucha Underground announced at WrestleCon

Season four
Season four of Lucha Underground comes at you this summer...

What's the story?

At the Lucha Underground v. Impact Wrestling event on Friday evening from WrestleCon, the announcement was made that Lucha Underground's fourth season will premiere on the El Rey Network on June 13th.

In case you didn't know...

Lucha Underground made its premiere on the El Rey Network, on October 29, 2014, and immediately wrestling fans were treated to a different, more cinematic version of professional wrestling.

The debut episode included Johnny Mundo (Impact / Morrison), Prince Puma (Ricochet), and Chavo Guerrero.

The heart of the matter

The opening contest of Lucha Underground v. Impact Wrestling was a six-way match between Matt Sydal, Moose, Matanza Cueto, Caleb Konley, Jack Evans, and Chavo Guerrero.

The monster Matanza was victorious and after the match, Chavo got on the microphone to introduce a special announcement, and the following video package rolled...

Season three ended in spectacular fashion when Pentagon Dark cashed in his Gift of the Gods Championship, to force Prince Puma to wrestle a second straight match.

Just like the first match Puma wrestled, Dario Cueto said his career was on the line. As we all know by now he lost and is now in NXT as Ricochet.

After an amazing montage featuring the wrestlers of Lucha Underground and their final moments to end season three, Cueto was in his office with Agent Winter from the FBI discussing the magic gauntlet escaping his control when the agent shot Dario in his office!

The finale ended showing Dario struggling to make a phone call, presumably to his father.

What's next?

Many questions will be answered in just a little over two months when Lucha Underground returns to the El Rey Network, on June 13th.

The current Champions are Pentagon Dark for the Lucha Underground Championship, and Killshot, Da Mack, and Dante Fox hold the Lucha Underground Trios Championships. We should quickly find out their next challengers when season four premieres.

Author's take

I'm glad the wait will not be long to see season four of Lucha Underground! The end of season three definitely left me wanting more.

One of the major keys for this upcoming season is the fact that Pentagon Dark remained with the company when it looked for a time that he wouldn't be back.
